The Print Spooling System is a function within TradeTalk and ShopTalk that gives you the ability to look at information generated that has been printed or emailed. A situation may arise where critical paperwork has been misplaced, damaged or emails were not received. Some very common situations where the Print Spooling System would be a beneficial would be
- Re-printing of Employee Pay Slips
- Re-print of End of Month or End of Day printouts
- Printing of Documents that were emailed originally.
- Re-printing of Despatch and Carton Labels (applicable only if the appropriate Label printer is selected, non-Label printers are not supported)
The Print Spooling System can be accessed from the Default menu Toolbox > Print Spooling System.
Headings
- Date/Time – This indicates the real Time Date and Time that the document was originally printed on.
- Operator – This lists the User ID and Name of the account logged in on the terminal that created the print job.
- Task – This lists the Task ID that the print job was created in. The Task ID can be broken into two parts. The first being the Port Number and will be the first 2 numbers with a maximum of 3. The second being the session ID (01, 02, 03, 04) and a maximum of 2 digits. An example would be a Task ID of 11601 would be Port 116, Session 1.
- Status
Logged Only – Indicates it was logged only by the Print Spooling System, but there was an error either printing or emailing the Job in question.
Pending – Job is awaiting to be printed or emailed. This is common when performing Batch Jobs that requiring eDoc/Printing.
Archived – Indicates the Job was either emailed or printed successfully. This is the most common Status.
Cancelled – A job that was cancelled by ACR itself, uncommon.
Re-printed – A job that was Re-Printed using the Re-print function within the Print Spooling System - Output
System Printer – The Job was sent to a Printer selected within ACR.
Screen – The Job was generated by ACR as a .PDF file and then opened immediately by the Default PDF Viewer of the machine (Refer to Task)
PC Printer – The Job was generated by ACR as a .PDF and then printed to a Printer local to the Machine selected by the Operator outside of ACR.
Fax – The Job was Faxed to a number specified found in Customer Maintenance > B2B > eDoc Configuration.
Quick Fax – The Job was faxed to a number specified in the “Send Quick Fax” option in General Tasks > Send Quick Fax
Email – The Job was Emailed either by the “Email” function at the Print Selection screen within ACR or the appropriate email address specified found in Customer Maintenance > B2B > eDoc Configuration.
Disk – If the Job supports this functionality, it was exported from ACR to the Server’s “Docs” directory as a Tab-Delimited file as raw data.
PDF – The Job was generated as a .PDF and exported from ACR to the Server’s “Docs” directory.
Button Functionality
- Refresh – refreshes the current view, beneficial with someone has printed or emailed since you opened the Print Spooling System.
- GoTo Date – Allows you to quickly navigate the Days/Months if specifically looking for a job, example would be Navigating to the Last day of Month for End of Month printouts.
- Spooler Engine – This contains the configuration of the printers within ACR and has no relation to Re-printing print jobs.
- Re-Print – Re-prints the Highlighted print job.
Note : Only applicable for Jobs with a Status of “Archived” - Printer Maint. – This contains the configuration of the printers within ACR and has no relation to Re-printing print jobs.
- Fax Engine – This contains the configuration of the printers within ACR and has no relation to Re-printing print jobs.
- Quit – Exits the Print Spooling System.
