System Configurations > Operation (ACR Only)

Within System Operation Configurations we have removed the Central Shipping Active setting and created the same functionality within a new configuration called Business Units Type. The overall purpose of Business Units is to enable sites a way of linking Customer Classes, Product Classes and Users together. Furthermore, Selling Front-Ends (Invoicing System, Point Of Sale etc) may optionally be configured to allow user access only to the Customers/ Products belonging to a specific Business Unit.

This new Business Unit configuration has 4 options:

  • N/A – This is the System Default setting for sites not using Business Unit functionality.
  • Type 1 –  Applies to all sites currently configured for Business Units and only works with Customer Class. This option would work well for sites who operationally service both Retail (POS) and Wholesale (Invoicing) customers and wish to align retail and wholesale customers to those sales front ends.
  • Type 2 –  Is replacing the ‘Central Shipping Active’ previous configuration working only with Customer Class. This option can be used for when a site wishes to separate Customers belonging to different Business Units of their company. The difference from Type 1 is this option allows sites to have greater controls applied to users attached to a business, such that the restrictions to customers in their business unit are enforced in more places throughout the system, for example, restricted search results shown for each Business Unit.
  • Type 3 –   Applies to both Customer and Product Classes and differs from Type 1 and 2 as it includes Product Classes. This BU option can be utilised when a site wishes to segregate both a chosen range of Products and Customers. By linking these Product Classes and Customer Classes within the BU, the system will recognise that only those Products/Customers can interact with each other.

If your site believes that these configurations may be useful, please discuss with a Trainer for further details.
