Main Menu

This update has an included video to demonstrate what is described below.

Basic Manu

There have been a number of changes to how users can search and navigating around the main menu within ACR. These changes have been made to make searching for menu items and navigating around the menu easier.

Searching for a menu item.

When searching for a menu item, still type the menu item name they are looking for into the Run ID box. The menu will now start reducing the displayed menu to only the items that fit the search criteria entered. This means as you start typing letters into the Run ID box the list of available menu items will keep reducing based on the letters typed. The search will be performed on the items available in the menu you are on when starting the search. As you type the menu the name of the menu item you wish to find the menu name will change to “Search Results” and only items that contain the letters typed in will show in the menu list. You do not need to type the whole word. As you type more letters the displayed list of options will be reduced to show only menu items that meet the entered search term. You no longer need to type enter to start the search. Due to the change in how the search function operates the up and down arrow next to the Run ID box will no longer be displayed after performing a search.

Deleting everything from the Run ID box will return you to the menu you were using before you searched.

For example if you type CUST into the Run ID box the menu will only show the items that contain the letters CUST. If you wish to search for multiple words you can separate multiple search terms with a space. So if you wanted to search for “Customer Maintenance” you could type “Cust Maint” into the search box. Once you have typed enough letters to show the menu item you wish to use you can either use the up and down arrow on the keyboard to move the highlight to the menu item you wish to run and press enter or use the mouse to click on the menu item you wish to use.

Search results

When performing a search the Menu name changes to Search Results. If you bring down the list of menu items Search Results will be displayed directly under the menu name that you were on prior to running the search. The system will remember the last search you ran until you log out of ACR. You can perform a search, change to a different menu then click on the menu item search results from the menu drop down to have the system show the results of the last search performed. Search results do not clear automatically after you run a menu item. The system will retain the search you last performed. You can clear a search by deleting the contents of the Run ID box.

Search drop down

Once a search has been run if you would like to locate where in the menu you ran the search on the item is located you can simply right click the menu item and select “Locate in Menu”. Alternatively you can highlight the menu item then select File> Locate in Menu. Doing either of these will open the menu you ran the search from and highlight where the chosen menu item is located. You can select the Search results item from the menu drop down to return to the search results.

Navigating the Menu.

When navigating around the main menu, users are still able to click items with a mouse as normal. Users are still able to use the up/down arrow on the keyboard to move between menu items. Using the Keyboard up/down arrows will now work even if the cursor is in the Run ID box. User can now also use the combination of the ALT key plus the up/down arrows to move between the top level root items on the menu. Pressing enter will run the menu item that is currently highlighted even if the cursor is in the Run ID box.

When changing between menu’s the top item on the menu will be highlighted.

Pressing the F2 key will move the cursor to the Run ID Box ready for a search to be performed. This function will work at any time that the main menu is not greyed out.
