Tips for a technology friendly 2015

As we pass into another year, a great start would be to get your Technological needs organised. Keeping your IT equipment up to date with software patches and anti-virus and anti-malware as well as replacing older equipment will keep your IT infrastructure operating at its peak efficiency and reduce downtime allowing you to continue trading uninterrupted. Here at ACR we’ve come up with a list of items that you can run through that will help make your life a little easier in the new year.

The list:

  • Make sure that Anti-virus is installed on all computers (we recommend AVG).
  • Make sure that Anti-malware is installed on all computers.
  • Anti-virus and Anti-malware complement each other and work to protect your computer from the more common types of harmful software.
  • Find a good local tech use for internal IT issues(such as the network being slow, or other NON ACR related PC issues).
  • If you are not happy with the service you are currently getting from your Local Tech it might be a good time to look for a new one. For more information on finding a new Local Tech please see 12 questions to ask your it support company
  • Upgrading old computers running Windows XP (as it is now unsupported by Microsoft, this could lead to security problems). ACR recommend Windows 7 or newer.
  • Upgrading old networking devices (switches, routers). Old network equipment may not provide the quickest connections which can result in the Network feeling slow when working.
  • ACR Recommends reviewing any IT hardware such as Printers, Network Switches, Routers and computers that are 5 years or older. Implementing a plan in to proactively replace older equipment can prevent a scramble to get new equipment if.when and older machine suddenly stops working.

As time moves on, technology is advancing. It is important to keep up to date to help make our lives easier. If you would like to discuss upgrading any of your IT equipment please feel free to contact your account Manager Matt Kneipp on 02 4725 2000
