Potential risks of staying with unsupported versions of Windows

With recent software patches to ACR to enable support for Windows 10 along with the rise in

malware and viruses it is important to ensure that you are using a supported versions of Windows.

Using End of support software can lead to the following risks:

  • Security: Without critical Windows security updates, your PC may become vulnerable to harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software which can steal or damage your business data and information. Anti-virus software will also not be able to fully protect you once older versions of Windows are unsupported.
  • Lack of Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Support: Many software vendors will no longer support their products running on older versions of Windows as they are unable to receive Windows updates. For example, the new Office takes advantage of the modern Windows and will not run on Windows XP.

End of support

End of support refers to the date when Microsoft no longer provides automatic fixes, updates, or online technical assistance. This is the time to make sure you have the latest available update or service pack installed. Without Microsoft support, you will no longer receive security updates that can help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software that can steal your personal information.
