A new utility called Product Succession Utility has been added to ACR. This utility will enable you to succeed an Old Product with a New Product. When run the Old Product will be marked as Discontinued if it has zero stock on hand or Clearout if it does not. The sales and order history will be moved from the Old Product across to the New Product.
When running Product Succession Utility the user must have exclusive use. A check is done to make sure no one else is using the following screens :
- Product Succession Utility
- Product Maintenance
- Distributors Stock Maintenance (Dist H/O only)
Old Product
Enter or search for the Product ID of the Old Product you wish to succeed.
Mode Selection
Select the mode you wish to run the utility in. The options available are:
- Duplicate Old Product – This will duplicate the Old Product with a new Product ID. You can then edit any details of the New Product after it has been created.
- Use Existing Product – This will allow you to select an existing Product to be the Successor to the Old Product.
Duplicate Product ID/New Product
This field will change names depending which mode you have selected to run the utility in. The field will be named the following::
- Duplicate Product ID – When running the utility in Duplicate Old Product mode you will be asked to enter in a new Product ID for the Duplicate Product. You are able to either enter a new value or enter -1 to have the system generate a new Product ID.
- New Product – When running the utility in Use Existing Product mode you will be asked to enter in the Product ID for an existing Product that will succeed the Old Product.
Note: After using the utility everything that used to be linked to the Old Product will now be linked to the New Product. This includes all Invoices, Orders, Stock Movement’s, Sales and Purchasing history, ETC.
