Customer Maintenance – Change of Ownership

Added a process to change ownership of a Customer to facilitate customer succession. This can be done by using the menu option ‘Options – Change Ownership’ while in Customer Maintenance with the customer selected. This option is only available for users with ‘Add’ or ‘Delete’ security.

The actual process this utility does is:

  1. Validate the selection
  2.  Lock the Customer and performs a check make sure no other user can make modifications during the process, not on any incomplete invoices (un-printed, parked, being modified etc)
  3. Duplicate the Customer (Including the address details). The new record will have the keyed in Account No and Sort Key.
  4. Move the ABN from the old record to the new record, all Account Receivables from the old record to the new record and  Account Balance values from the old record to the new record.

Once complete, the record that is loaded on the screen is the that of the new owner. The new owner has all stats, invoices, stock movements, etc. As well as the old Account No and Sort Key, a blank ABN, and zero Account Balance. The record for the old owner (new record) will have the keyed in Account No and Sort Key, the old ABN, as well as all A/R records.
