Export / Import Utility Tip – Leading Zeros

The Export / Import Utility is a useful tool designed to save time when making bulk changes and manipulating data. We have found more often than not, Microsoft Excel is one of the more widely used programs people are using to export into.

If you are going to use Excel to update your changes it is important to note that when you open the file to ensure the Column data is formatted to Text. If you do not do this, any leading zero’s will be removed. For example If a Product ID is 03359, it would read this as 3359 and ACR would not recognise this Product ID upon re-importing.

We recommend saving the file under the same format (simply File > Save As) and giving it a name to indicate it is being edited.  Once finished, save again as a tab delimited text file (ending in “.txt” and name the file to indicate it is ready to be imported.
