Job Keeper and Single Touch Payroll changes

Due to the Government’s Job Keeper initiative we have made modifications within the below modules to assist businesses to report Jobkeeper Start and End Fortnights, as well as any Jobkeeper Top up amounts.

Pay Allocation Maintenance > Job Keeper

A new Income Type within Pay Allocation Maintenance has been created called ‘JobKeeper’. Please contact your Financial Advisor for Super and Leave Effect settings.

Employee Maintenance > Job Keeper

Within Employee Maintenance 2 new fields have been created

  • ‘JobKeeper Start’
  • ‘JobKeeper End’

Both fields default to the option of ‘No Allowance’, this setting is also suited for those Businesses/ Employees not currently involved in the program and /or new employees.
For those businesses & employees involved in the program, both fields carry numbered Fortnightly dated cycles ie FN01 (30/03/20-12/04/20) . These cycles correspond to the ATO Start and End dates of the program.

Please note that there are set parameters the system has to work within and include:

  • Any Employee commencing after the 1st March 2020 is not eligible for Job Keeper Payments and therefore the Start and End dates cannot be set.
  • The Start date is no longer modifiable once set to a value other than ‘No Allowance’ IF a payroll batch has been processed for that Employee with an Income Type of JobKeeper.
  • A warning will advise the user if The Start date is not set in the current months’ fortnight or previous fortnight cycle.
  • The End date can be left set to ‘No Allowance’ until the business determines otherwise.
  • The End date can’t be set to less than the Start date
  • The End date can’t not be set past the last listed Date Cycle
  • The End date is no longer modifiable once set to a value other than ‘No Allowance’, IF a payroll batch has been processed for that Employee with an Income Type of JobKeeper.

Payroll Entry > Job Keeper

When the Job Keeper Pay Allocation is used within Payroll Entry, the system will check to make sure it is not used for a Pay Date past the 27th of September 2020.

If an Employee is being terminated or a change is made to the listed Employer making the Job Keeper claim and a Start Date has been set, an End date must then also be selected.

In regards to Job Keeper payments, your pays must stay within the current ATO set fortnightly date range and cannot backdate into a previous fortnight. There was leniency with the original set up and payments could be accepted for FN1 and FN2 up until 26th April. Please contact your financial advisor to further discuss the ATO guidelines for Job Keeper Registration, How to Qualify, Payments, and Start & End dates.

Single Touch Payroll > Job Keeper

The file created from our Payroll system which is sent to the ATO, now supports the reporting of Jobkeeper details regarding

  • Employee JobKeeper Start Date
  • Employee JobKeeper End Date
  • Payroll entries with a Pay Allocation Income Type of JobKeeper
