Network Cabling Importance

All the network cables in your office allow for users to log into the ACR server and use it’s functions, however if these cables are not setup in an optimal way, then the risk of data being transferred from computer to server could be lost. We recommend a local tech person to be the one to set up the network scheme in your office as they would have the expertise and patience to correctly manage a large or small scale network in an office. It isn’t just a matter of plugging in cables from the router to the computer, it is far more then that.

Cable lengths are important, types of cables are important, health of the cables are important. If a cable has been used for 15 years and has shoe marks on it or as has been rolled on by tables or other heavy objects, the chances are it isn’t running at optimal speeds, if it is running at all. This equates to data loss, which in turn can cause communication issues between many of the different components that allow ACR to function on your system.

If you are experiencing a substantial amount of communication based errors, for example the ACR error stating that a print file is missing, chances are the communication between the computer getting the error and the server is the issue. If the cabling between those two points is sub-optimal, then these kinds of errors can occur. Talk to your local tech about network related drop outs, they can also assist in labeling the cables at each location so there is no ambiguity on tracking down cables causing issues as they will determine which computer is having cable faults compared to others. We are also happy to help determine where the issue is coming from
