Stocktake System – Import Stocktake from File

There have been changes made to the PDE Download screen.

  • It has been renamed to Data Download.
  • A stocktake can now be imported from a file using the File on Local PC option.

There are now three ways to import a Stocktake into the Data Download window:

  • Serial PDE connected to server
    This is the original method that has been in place, which allows a stocktake to be imported that has been completed on a PDE device that connects directly to your server (or digi port) using a Serial connection.
  • USB PDE connected locally
    This is used to import a stocktake that has been completed on a PDE device that connects to your computer using a USB connection.
  • File on Local PC
    This is used to import a stocktake that has been created as a tab delimited text file and is saved on the local PC.

Below are the requirements to create the File to load a stocktake using the file on local PC option;

  • The First line of the file must start with #ACR.
  • The Second line must contain the column headings. The required headings are PRDID, QTY, PRICE and CATEGORY. PRDID must be the first column of the file. Any columns included in the file other than the required headings will be ignored.
  • This file must be saved as a tab delimited file.

Please find attached a sample template for your use if you wish.

Import File Location

To load a stocktake using a file that has been created on your local computer, open Activate Stocktake and select Create Manual Stocktake via PDE.

On the Data Download screen, select File on Local PC option, then click the Start button. This will open the Select Data File screen.  Click the “…” button to navigate to where the file has been saved, and once you have selected the stocktake file to be imported click OK on the Select Data File screen.

Once the file has been imported into the Data Download screen, click the Start button.  From this point the remaining steps are identical to the stocktake by PDE method.
