Creating Personalised Menus and Menu Security

Sometimes you may find yourself forgetting where an ACR Menu Item is located or what it is called which can be frustrating when you are time poor. To improve productivity in the workplace it is handy to know how to create Personalised Menus for your staff.

By clicking on Menu Maintenance (Default Menu>Toolbox>Maintenance>Menu Maintenance) you will be able to select New and then create a custom Menu or edit any other previously created Menus.

Menus can be customised by User or by User Group. Firstly you will need to enter a Description of the Menu eg. Front Office Staff. The list on the left hand side of the screen will display every Menu Item in ACR. Users will highlight the desired Menu item and select ‘Add Item’, which will then move that selection to be displayed on the right making a list of your new Menu. These Items can then be moved in the list by selecting the Up/Down/Left buttons.

Pressing ‘Add Heading’ will allow the User to group specific Menu Items together. For example the Heading of ‘Month End Procedure’ can have a list of the associated Menu Items  in order from top to bottom so Users have a process to follow.

Furthermore, in User Maintenance, you can select which Home Menu you would like for the User and also lock a specific Menu to a User/User Group by ticking the ‘Lock Menu’ tickbox. Users can toggle between Menus that they have been assigned to (if their Menu is not locked) by selecting the drop-down box underneath their Name at the top left of ACR.

Most businesses want to ensure staff have the correct permissions to access/not access Menu Items within ACR. Navigate to Default Menu>Maintenance>System Users>Security Maintenance for a list of all Menu Items and the ability to edit Permissions for each User Group.

A Security Summary will give a Summary for the selected Menu item and you are able to sort by any of the column headings. You will be able to sort by Permission to see which staff member has Permission to Edit for example.

Remember if you have no Security set, the default is that Staff will be able to gain access to this Menu Item. For a list of Permissions and the order of Precedence please look in the Self Help Manual under Security Maintenance or call a Trainer to assist.
