ACR Backups 101

The safety of your business data is paramount. That is why your ACR server will run regular backup jobs, so that you can focus on the important things without worrying about data loss. This article will give a brief overview about backups warnings you may encounter, along with how to check the status of current and previous backups within ACR.

How to check the backup status

You can check the status of your backups within ACR by double-clicking the “Backup” field towards the top left of the window, just below where the current date is displayed.

Double-clicking the “Backup” field will bring up the backup logs window, which shows you the date and time of the most recent backup jobs, along with the type of backup job which was run and the status of that particular backup.

Backups and backup warnings

Your ACR server is configured to run a few different types of backups per day. Sometimes, there can be errors or failures with a particular backup job and when these jobs fail, they generate warnings. Warnings aren’t always critical or a cause for panic – they are simply there to alert you that there was an issue with a particular backup job. Most of the time, the warnings are self-correcting.

One of the more common warnings encountered are warnings generated by an error with the cloud backup. These warnings almost always occur when there was a loss of internet connectivity during the cloud backup job. Sites with an unreliable internet connection are much more likely to encounter these warnings.

Another is the USB backup warning. This usually occurs when the disk has not been attached overnight. To avoid this warning, make sure that the USB backup drive is attached overnight. This error can also occur if a USB drive is failing, so make sure to contact the ACR to verify this and to order a replacement drive sooner rather than later.

If these problems persist or if there is a bigger issue with a backup job, you will see a critical warning. The ACR tech team are always monitoring the status of our customer’s backup jobs and will always notice when a backup is critical. These critical warnings can sometimes take a while to remedy (especially if there is a lot of data to backup at once), but rest assured that we are always working to resolve them.

If you have any concerns or questions about your backups, you are more than welcome to reach out to the Tech team at ACR and we will happily answer your questions and concerns
